Dan Trachtenberg and Alison Jackson to Appear at the 2016 Lions Health Festival in Cannes

McCann Health & Great Guns Present 2nd Annual “Fighting For Your Creative Life” Seminar on Saturday, June 18 at 10:00 am

June 16, 2016 – McCann Health and Great Guns are proud to present the second installment of their “Fighting For Your Creative Life” seminar at the 2016 Lions Health Festival, bringing together Dan Trachtenberg, who directed JJ Abrams’ newest film, “10 Cloverfield Lane” and Alison Jackson, a multi award-winning artist who explores cult of celebrity.

Healthcare is a notoriously difficult industry for anyone to be creative in and following convention may seem like the only option. Instead of a single-minded solution, the average creative person has to negotiate a swamp of complicated regulatory barriers, loaded with yet more restrictions and legal demands, all designed to prevent misleading consumers and patients or misrepresenting professional leaders and their integrity. But not all healthcare creatives remain tethered by these constraints.

“The team at McCann Health challenge each other across their global network on a daily basis.  Their passion to educate their creatives and brands to strive for more creative work is tireless.  Their output is sharp and at times, quite powerful as they think around the rule book to deliver engaging work time and time again.  Their demands are larger than life, making it harder each year to deliver speakers that satisfy their quest for the best” said Laura Gregory Founder Great Guns.

“In healthcare communications, our every day is filled with requests to soar beyond restrictions and barriers in order to creatively solve a myriad of medical, health and pharma problems.,” said Jeremy Perrott, Global Chief Creative Officer, McCann Health, who will be introducing the seminar. “Thanks to our friends at Great Guns, we are fortunate to bring two extraordinarily, talented artists to the stage in a powerful demonstration of their personal struggles to fight for their creative lives. Driven by the challenge, motivated by the fear of mediocrity, they are the ones who do something incredible to escape the straightjacket of industry complexities.”

About Alison Jackson

Alison Jackson is a contemporary artist who explores the cult of celebrity. Born in Hampshire, Alison trained in Fine Art Sculpture at Chelsea College of Art in London, and in Fine Art Photography at the Royal College of Art. Jackson makes convincingly realistic work about celebrities doing things in private using lookalikes, and raises questions about whether we can believe what we see when we live in a mediated world of screens, imagery and internet. She comments on our voyeurism, on the power and seductive nature of imagery, and on our need to believe. Her work has established wide respect for her as an incisive, funny and thought-provoking commentator on the burgeoning phenomenon of contemporary celebrity culture.

Jackson’s speaking engagements have included TED, Tate Britain and Modern, ICA, , National Portrait Gallery, Edinburgh TV Festival, Barbican, Royal Geographical Society, Intelligence2, amongst various universities and colleges.

Awards: BAFTA, Infinity Award-ICP, Photographers Gallery Award, D&AD, and Best of the best. Worked with actors such Benedict Cumberbatch, Eddie Redmayne, Ralph Fiennes, Orlando Bloom, Gillian Anderson and Vanessa Redgrave.
