Former Glaxo CEO Garnier Seeks Health & Beauty

After suffering Napoleonic jibes during his time, Jean-Pierre Garnier, the former Glaxo ceo, is expected to return to his French roots as chief executive ofPierre Fabre, a health and beauty company, The Financial Times reports.

JP, who retired in May after already disappointing investors with his outsized pay and a pipeline thinner than his hairline, will be following in the footsteps of his father, a company doctor. His mandate is believed to be the restructuring of Fabre, a large employer in Castres in south-west France, the FT writes. The post is in addition to a number of other senior advisory roles JP already holds, including non-executive roles at United Technologies, Renault and Dubai Capital.

Good ol' Monty Burns. [shrug] Perhaps it's the freebie promotional goody bags that he's after? I reckon he needs some lip plumpener, and maybe a blusher in a shade of orange that matches no skintone of any healthy human specimen.

Wow. Surprising that someone considered such a stalwart in this industry obviously left for reasons other than 'retirement'.

While no one should be surprised about his choice at Pierre Fabre, it is strange that his sabbatical lasted for such a short period of time.

JP ruined GSK.

I hope he does the same to PF.

With luck, he'll get elected president of France...and ruin the whole cuntry.

I don't think it's fair to refer to Pierre Fabre as a Health and Beauty company -- they have a large pharmaceutical division and do a lot of pharma R&D. Thay obviosuly aren't as big as sanofi, but still...
