Kathleen Jaeger Leaves Generic Trade Group

Kathleen Jaeger, who has been one of the industry's more visible and vocal personalities for more than a decade, is leaving the Generic Pharmaceutical Association, where she has been the chief executive and president since 2002. Her last day is June 30. She joined the GPhA after it was formed as the result of a merger between three other trade associations (here is theGPhA statement).

During her tenure, Jaeger was prominent in the various debates over health care reform and the pay-to-delay issue, in particular; Medicare Part D (see here); user fees and generic drugmakers (see here); and, of course, a pathway for biosimilars (see this).

Leaving so she can get prepped to replace Tauzin? Her name is floating around DC.

Do you have any idea why she is leaving? It looks as though both Tauzin and Jaeger were fired, at a time when the two trade associations had a lot at stake in the health care bill. From our perspective, Tauzin got PhRMA almost everything they wanted in the health care bill. What did the GPhA accomplish or not accomplish under Jaeger, with regard to this legislation?

Kinda looks like Hoozits the Actor in Sleepless in Seattle. But being warm and fuzzzy, I'm going to guess, it not her forte.

On the other hand, Billy kept the Good Ole Boy sntik going prety well. Perhaps a Good Youngin (looking) Woman is just what the BIO needs.

And, hey, maybe that's why Clinton's going?

(I am prepared for Harpy to roast me on a stick and tell me that she is the best thing since Medtronic defibs...)
