Agency hires Sociology and Psychology PhDs to expand integrated branding capabilities and further differentiate through innovation

TORONTO, ON/NEW YORK, NY – July 18, 2017 – Klick Health today announced it is expanding its Behavioral Science team as part of its extensive lineup of in-house, full-service healthcare marketing and commercialization capabilities. In sharing the news, the company welcomed Sociology PhD, Tim Fisher, and Cognitive Neuroscience Psychology PhD, Adam Palanica, onto its team of over 700 Klicksters.

“It gives us great pleasure to introduce Tim and Adam as new additions to our Behavioral Science practice as we continue to find new ways to provide more value, insights, and innovation to our clients,” said Klick CEO and Co-Founder Leerom Segal. “We believe that understanding the drivers that are required to change behaviors of today’s complex mix of patients, caregivers, and healthcare professionals is critical to driving business success. Our dedicated team of behavioral scientists work alongside our data scientists, strategists, and medical and branding experts to create meaningful brand strategies and innovation opportunities.”

Klick’s Behavioral Science practice provides invaluable insights into the world of behavioral change by utilizing the unique knowledge and history of psychology, sociology, behavioral economics, and neuroscience. The team offers a fundamental and efficient framework for being able to understand, explain, and implement various cognitive processes, decision making, heuristics, biases, and schemas – taking into account biology, evolution, development, culture, and social norms.

Segal added, “Brain science helps explain how people behave, while behavioral science helps explain why people do what they do. Applying these unique backgrounds helps predict future behavior in an ever-changing environment, and thus, allows us to design effective behavioral interventions.”

Tim Fisher, PhD – VP Brand Strategy & Innovation

Fisher joins Klick with a PhD in Sociology from the University of Southern California. He started his career as an Assistant Professor of Sociology and has extensive industry experience utilizing his deep understanding of human motivations and behaviors to build meaningful health marketing programs across numerous therapeutic areas, including Alzheimer’s, diabetes, IBS, MS, oncology, psoriasis, osteoporosis, and other chronic conditions. Previously he leveraged theories and models of human behaviour as a springboard to help develop innovative brand strategies that uniquely differentiated the brands he worked on.

Upon joining the company, Fisher said, “Klick has an unusually high concentration of smart and creative minds, who are passionate about solving important healthcare challenges. I’m excited to be part of the Klick community and help our clients achieve great things by better empathizing and connecting with the growing number of diverse stakeholders across the healthcare universe.”

Adam Palanica, PhD – Behavioral Scientist

Palanica joins Klick with a PhD in Cognitive Neuroscience Psychology and proven expertise using neuroscience research techniques and technologies, such as electronic eye-tracking, electroencephalography (EEG), and skin-conductance response, to obtain important insights on how people think and behave. He is an expert in the creation, interpretation, and communication of quantitative and qualitative analyses and has been published in numerous scientific journals, including Journal of Nonverbal Behavior, Journal of Vision, Visual Cognition, Attention, Perception, & Psychophysics, and Perception.

“I’m delighted to join Klick to bring new insights and research methodology for studies with our clients,” Palanica said. “I’m especially excited about examining the drivers of human behavior in healthcare, including subconscious or implicit factors that affect health and wellness attitudes, beliefs, and cognitive bias.”

Unique among health agencies

Having an in-house Behavioral Science practice is unique among health marketing agencies. Most retain behavioral scientists on an outsourced, project basis. Segal acknowledged the move is unorthodox by today’s standards – calling it another differentiator, which “will help inoculate ourselves against the status quo.”

A few years ago, Klick announced the establishment of Klick Labs, an in-house digital innovation center to help life science organizations advance healthcare through the application of emerging concepts and technologies.

Klick Labs recently made headlines around the world with the introduction of its groundbreaking SymPulse™ Tele-Empathy Device, which wirelessly records and transmits movement disorder tremors to create clinical empathy giving physicians and caregivers the ability to feel what it’s like to tremor.

Today’s news also follows a number of other recent senior hires, including new Chief Medical Officer Holly Henry; SVP Medical Strategy Jasmine Singh; Chief Creative Commercial Officer NYC Elliot Langerman; Client Service Lead Joanna Jacobs; and Group Account Director Jodi Brichan.
