After a groundbreaking year in 2015, we continued to grow and diversify our business in 2016,” according to executives at McCann Managed Markets. “Leveraging the power of the McCann Health platform, we expanded our client roster to include pharma giants like Janssen and Lilly that encompass important therapeutic categories like cardiovascular care and diabetes. It was also a year of bringing innovative and creative programs to life that help shape and define our culture and establish who we are as an agency.”

The Year’s Accomplishments

“As an agency that puts a strong emphasis on its people and with its tremendous growth in 2015, we moved into a dynamic new space to keep up with our expanding team and client roster,” executives say. In March 2016, McCann Managed Markets relocated to new offices in Mountain Lakes, N.J. “A great deal of thought and consideration went into designing this new space to foster creativity, innovation, integration and, of course, fun,” agency leaders say.

“In keeping with the spirit of our new home and our focus always being on our people, we launched a revolutionary employee health and well-being initiative called Mindset. Mindset is a voluntary program, rooted in the practices and principles of mindfulness, and was created to help our employees reduce stress, relieve anxiety, and improve employee health,” according to McCann Managed Markets execs.

Kim Wishnow-Per, president of McCann Managed Markets notes, “A guiding principle in the design and energy of our new space was rooted in the McCann Health philosophy of improving health, increasing happiness, and inspiring humanity – both individually and collectively.”

According to agency leaders, the Mindset program and new office space provided the team with a real spark. “This initiative has strengthened our sense of camaraderie, and acted as a catalyst for authentic, powerful ideas,” executives say.

During October 2016, McCann Managed Markets was instrumental in getting the McCann Health Fellowship Initiative accepted into the Rutgers Pharmaceutical Industry Fellowship Program, according to agency leadership.

We are proud to be part of the esteemed group of pharmaceutical and biopharmaceutical companies collaborating with Rutgers University in mentoring and educating the healthcare industry leaders of tomorrow.”

According to senior leadership at McCann Managed Markets, the focus of the past year was to expand client relationships within the McCann Health network, ensuring new business growth and opportunities. “We are about building long-lasting client relationships,” says Karen Shoshan, senior VP, director of client services. “We work with every brand and every client to anticipate what lies ahead in the marketplace and develop new ways to address their long-term goals and objectives.”

On the new business front, McCann Managed Markets amassed several new clients, including Aralez, Bayer, Janssen and Lilly, and gained new accounts from existing clients such as Genentech. To accommodate the new business wins, the McCann Managed Markets team saw its staff grow by 15 percent in 2016.

Structures & Services

As a full-service managed markets agency, McCann Managed Markets provides a wide range of support and services from prelaunch and launch to postlaunch market access initiatives geared toward payers, organized provider groups, healthcare professionals, their office staff, and patients.

According to Greg Novello, senior VP, strategy, “Everything we do is grounded in a foundation of solid strategic thinking and analysis.”

To show its commitment to strategy, the agency held a proprietary Organized Provider Group Summit at the American Medical Group Association (AMGA) meeting in Orlando, Florida in September 2016. During the summit, 10 C-suite attendees, representing 9 organized provider groups, discussed how key health care trends will impact their organizations and how pharmaceutical companies can collaborate to help enhance patient care.

“McCann Managed Markets looks forward to sharing the learnings from the Summit with clients and publishing the findings in a white paper,” executives say.

“Throughout the year, we paid special attention to solidifying robust industry partnerships with a focus on big data analytics and actuarial science to bring our clients innovative tools and expert solutions,” McCann Managed Markets executives say.

On the creative front, Gargi Mukherjee, VP, associate creative director, copy, and Orlando Lopez, VP, associate creative director, art, are increasingly focused on raising the bar of creativity in the market access space. “Using McCann Health’s proprietary tools, they create customer-specific communication pieces to inspire our audiences from both messaging and visual standpoints,” agency executives explain.

Future Plans

In 2017, McCann Managed Markets remains committed to expanding market access strategic partnerships by forming an industry/health plan advisory council to broaden data and analytical capabilities.

The agency will also expand its Mindset program. “McCann Managed Markets employees continue to reap its benefits, and as a result, the program will soon be launched across all McCann Health North America agencies,” management says.

McCann Managed Markets also plans to enhance its digital frontiers and capabilities with innovative tools and designs for clients. “We are firm advocates of ‘Great processes and infrastructure’ and it’s about anticipating, being prepared, and understanding how the demands fluctuate, thereby creating a workflow that performs efficiently, yielding quality services and products for our clients,” according to agency executives.

“Other important breakthrough therapy launches are on the horizon for McCann Managed Markets,” executives say. “And as always, the agency continues to work on a steady stream of new business opportunities aimed at garnering meaningful partnerships to bring therapeutic and frequently life-saving options to patients.”

Philanthropy/Citizenship

In 2016, McCann Managed Markets donated to the Dress for Success women’s organization in Morris County, N.J. The mission of Dress for Success is to empower women to achieve economic independence by providing a network of support, including professional attire and the development tools to help women thrive in work and in life.

The agency also partnered with NY Cares/NJ Cares to meet the pressing needs of the community by sponsoring a successful Coat Drive before the start of winter.
