Another blow to Kalamazoo and to the State of Michigan, which has the highest unemployment rate in the country. Let's hope that Covance will do the right thing and pay to relocate as many of those laid off as possible, for there are simply no jobs for them locally. In today's climate of massive downsizing in Pharma and related businesses I'm not holding out hope.
The CRO's have done a good job of managing cost through this period. This is probably another reason they've been able to do it.
