Pharmalot... Pharmalittle... Good Morning

Top of the morning to you. And a busy one it is. We are hustling, as usual, to deposit the short people at the local school house. We are also recovering from a late night on the Ranbaxy watch - you know, waiting to see if the FDA would approve its generic Lipitor. Who says the pharmaceutical industry is not dramatic? Of course, this means there is much to do. To get started, here are some tidbits. Have a great day and stay in touch...

Guess we were fooled by all of the bulldozers at the E Hanover Novartis site. Maybe they were just grave digging equipment.

Not really TNC - just call it "millions for roads but not one penny for science" - at least, that's my observation

Good Mornin Ed,

I'm curious as to why you aren't covering the GAO report on the psychiatric drugging of children in the foster care program, and the Congressional Hearing that's taking place?

Hi Lisa

Thanks for the note. The answer is that there was a lot of Lipitor news, as you can see, the GAO report was not out earlier and I'm the only person in the Pharmalot newsroom. I am getting to it, though.

Best ed

Thankyou Ed! Y'all have a good day!!

I'm pretty sure the yearly salaries of the lawyer brigade at Novartis are still more expensive than the one-time construction project.

Science? What's that?

Did NJ employees get their 60 day notice...? Shipping the whole clinical research trial management department to India to remote monitor the clinical trials being conducted in USA qualifies for the 60 day notice.

Here is the required 60 day WARN Notice from the NJ Dept of Labor for Novartis.

Thanks TNC, for the link.

The article states, "Novartis has given notice to 183 workers that their jobs will be eliminated effective tomorrow, according to documents filed with the state Department of Labor."

The dates of *effective* don't seem to match?

Mr dziecko, looks like you manged to quiet the "Original Industry Insider", at least for now. What a pompous, arrogant boor!

Dec 2, 2011 - 2:03pm

@truth and justice

believe it or not, that was not my intention, nor is it now, to "quiet" anybody...

People are trying to make life decisions based on a very changed landscape, and OII's perspective and industry history of financial success (there is that reality, isn't there?) are important to know.

If a science driven culture and the amount of funding for clinical research SCIENCE are

*DEAD*

according to his educated opinion, than that is important *data* from the corporate business community for everyone to consider.

Students have to consider what field of study specialization is worth going into permanent debt over

and shareholders need to figure out where a new trickle of profit can be squeezed since R&D is *dead*...

Overall, this is a very informative site. Today's article picks up the issue about the future of medical research with yet another grouping of stats analyzed. It's going to be an ongoing conversation - medical research of the future.

As my Mom used to ask me when I was suddenly without a project - "...so what happened, every sickness has been cured?..."
