The Chantix suicide article leaves me with a heavy heart once again. SSRI Stories is full of tales such as these. Last Winter in the L.A. Times there was a story of a young and loving mother, who was on one of the SSRIs, drowning her two little daughters. The family was just astonished, stating that it was inexplicable...when, if ever, will these psych.drug - induced tragedies end?

I suppose that depends on whether you believe they were psych drug induced.

Infanticide is described in documents from the pre-Roman era. Someone was well ahead of their time if they were cooking up Chantix or any other CNS drug back then.

24 suicides since 2007? Any idea how many people die of smoking related illnesses in a year? Or do these latter deaths not matter because they offer no opportunity to grind one's favorite axe?

John is right. Good example of the adage that correlation is not causation. Your 24 year old kid wants to blow his brains out? Well it must be one of those psych drugs that this emotionally enfeebled millennial generation must be taking to avoid the consequences of living in the real world. Better idea let's remove aspirin from the market but then again this generation of losers would just use it as another excuse to add another narcotic in the race down their drug induced highway to detox, rehab, jail or death.

@John, actually, wealthy ancient Romans drinking wine out of lead goblets did suffer major brain damage...

@oii - so it's what we do, right? Experiment? Let's see what happens when the vast majority of *millenials* are drug free....

as for "avoiding the consequences of living in the real world" - it's not the same world YOU were handed - 7 Billion living off a massively more trashed environment - ie. how many gallons of oil and nuclear waster have found their way into the oceans? Last thing they need is an old fart like you calling them "emotionally enfeebled", so STFU.

Don't know about you, but I was handed the option of facing the business end of an AK 47 rifle in South Viet Nam before enlisting. That's something these whiny adderalled brats, perennially umbilicated to their iphones and their mommy's apron strings will never know, Meanwhile entry into the real world is delayed while they continue to eat mama's home cookin', hanging around in daddio's basement while promising "I won't sleep in again tomorrow so that I can get my ass out of the rack and look for a job, that is of course if all the drugs and alcohol I consumed last night don't give me another hangover".

WAH, WAH, WAH! LMFAO!

@oii - as you know, all job hunting is now done via the internet - easier to "circular file" the mountain of CVs. Doing anything other than using the internet for job hunting will draw the attention of Homeland Security.

So cell phones aren't all that "safe" to manufacture that's why those jobs aren't being done in USA, right? What's for dinner, Mom?

dz, do you think I can use the internet to send out Grandma Gussie's recipe for her best in class Nesselrode Pie?
