Pharmalot... Pharmalittle... Good Morning

Hello, everyone, and how are you today? Another busy morning is unfolding here on the Pharmalot corporate campus where, once again, we are hustling short people to their school houses and urging the mascots to fertilize the weeds as quickly as possible. These challenges require a strong cup of stimulation - we are back to Pumpkin Spice this week - and invite you to quaffe something along with us. Meanwhile, here is the daily roundup of tidbits. Eli Lilly continues on its roll of "push the pill first, pay the piper later" with its settling of DES lawsuits. As usual, they refuse to admit that their DES pill caused four sisters to get breast cancer after the mother took it while pregnant (a fifth sister did not get breast cancer - the mother wasn't taking the DES pill). And, as usual, they made a canned statement about being glad this was over so they could get back to business.

The list of damage to health, and death, is a long one for Lilly - topped off by its recent awful blockbuster, Zyprexa. Despite reams of internal documents showing they knew it caused massive weight gain and diabetes, and also showing how people at the highest eschelons of the company plotted off-label marketing schemes, not one person from the company has ever been indicted. Thousands of people got diabetes from this drug, and thousands died.

When will the federal government develop a backbone? This isn't just money lost - as in Wall Street crime - this is human lives.
