Good morning, everyone, and how are you today? We hope the weekend was refreshing and relaxing. Now, though, the routine of meetings and deadlines has resumed. We would like to pause, however, to note that today marks our fifth birthday -
five years ago today, we launched Pharmalot. And it has been quite a ride. We have posted countless items about the pharmaceutical industry and its issues, and the experience has been both exhilarating and, sometimes, exhausting.
Moreover, the site is now profitable. But we could not have come this far without saying thanks to our readers, including our critics, who have educated and prodded us to learn and do more every day. There are so many, many people to thank; the list is quite long, but you know who you are and we tip our hat to you. Please accept our sincere appreciation for your responses and insights over the years. And a special thanks, of course, to Mrs. Pharmalot for her patience and support. And now, as the Soviets used to say, on to the next five years. So let us begin with a few items of interest. Have a great day...

Congratulations, Ed!
May I observe that it was a wonderful moment when to see Pharmalot return in 2009 after the hiaturs - almost as wonderful as "the new present" that each day of Pharmalot has become.
Congratulations, Mr Ed, and wishing you many more years to come!
Mazel Tov! Félicitations! Congratulacions! Nastrovias! Glückwunsche! Congratulazioni! Zhùhè!
Happy Birthday and many more! Your site, Ed, is one of my first stops every morning.
Very well done, indeed!
Happy Birthday, Ed. Here's to wishing many more birthdays for Pharmalot down the road.
"EnglishSwahiliGalicianHongera, Ed! Mei barabara kupanda kwa kukutana na wewe, na upepo milele kuwa nyuma yako.
Kama na wakosoaji yako, yangu kubwa kugeuka mioyo yao, na kama nyoyo zao, basi kubwa kugeuka vifundoni yao, ili tuweze kujua yao kwa kiwete zao!"
And, so. . . all of the above is Swahili for:
"Congratulations, Ed! May the road rise to meet you, and may the wind ever be at your back.
As to your critics, my the Infinite turn their hearts; and if not their hearts, then let the Infinite turn their ankles, so that we might know them by their limping!. . ."
[A mix of the African and the Irish, then. . .]
Namaste
congratulations!
And many more!

Happy Anniversary Ed!
Congratulations on your 5th anniversary, Ed! And much appreciation to Mrs. Pharmalot and the short people (who probably aren't so short anymore).
Pharmalot has been a gift to all of us! Thanks, Ed!! Mazal tov!!!
Ed,
Your quip, "And now, as the Soviets used to say, on to the next five years", reminds me of an anecdote.
A Soviet commissar was addressing a town at the meeting that took place every two to three months. He carried on an on about the Five-Year Plan, concluding, “Are there any questions?--Yes, Comrade Moskowitz.”
Comrade Moskowitz asked: “Comrade Commissar, a few months ago you said that we would be receiving new refrigerators. So far we have not received them. When will we?”
Comrade Commissar replied: “Comrade Moskowitz, thank you for asking. They are being built and will be delivered soon. As you know, we live under a Five-Year Plan that meets all of our needs!”
Two months later at the next town meeting, the commissar again carried on an on about the Five-Year Plan, concluding, “Are there any questions? Ah, yes, Comrade Moskowitz.”
Comrade Moskowitz asked: “When will receive the new refrigerators that you said are on the way?”
Comrade Commissar replied: “Comrade Moskowitz, the refrigerators are to arrive on schedule according to our Five-Year plan.”
Three months later at the next town meeting, the commissar again carried on as usual the Five-Year Plan, concluding, “Are there any questions?”
A voice from the back: “Where’s Moskowitz?”
Thanks, Ed, for Pharmalot. All the best.
Congratulations on your first five years and wishing you many many more.
Ed,
A very sincere happy anniversary. Your very hard work reflects in your detailed reports. A happy five more!
Steve
Happy birthday, Ed.
I'm following Pharmalot for nearly three years now, it became one of my favorite resources for information at day one.
Congratulations for your 5th anniversary, Ed. Happy birth day!
Happy Birthday, Ed. LOVE your work.
Keep it coming, Ed. Your blog is most valuable in the quest to keep our fingers on the pulse of this dynamic industry.
Happy B-Day!
Congratulations Ed!!
Congrats on the anniversary - sorry I missed the day; I've been following your blog since (I think) the beginning and - from a bioethics perspective - I just adore it. Best wishes for many more years, and thank you for adding some humour to pharmaland.
Congrats!
