Finalist | Best Agency Campaign
FCBCure wanted to show it was a different kind of agency. It took as its tagline, “Cure for the Ordinary.” And to recruit likeminded creatives on social media, the agency produced a film to show that everyone here is ready to push for great work … even if they’re 6 inches tall and made of plastic.

FINALIST

Best Agency Campaign

“Thanks to our ‘Yes, we can!’ attitude and enduring commitment to doing the right thing for our clients, their brands, and our people, 2021 was a prolific, productive, and creative year for FCBCURE,” agency managers say.

Recent Accomplishments

According to the leadership team, the agency’s attitude continued to be at the forefront and helped drive FCBCURE to achieve tremendous success in 2021, expanding its roster and welcoming eight new clients.

Management attributes the agency’s growth to its success in fostering organic growth from both new and long-standing clients – most notably with Novartis Oncology, for which FCBCURE expanded its partnership to include servicing three new oncology pipeline products.

“The organic growth we experienced with both new and long-standing clients last year is a testament to the drive and passion our teams demonstrate on a daily basis,” says Tammy Fischer, co-managing director. “We don’t back down from challenges and we continually push ourselves to deliver outstanding work for our clients, and this effort has not gone unnoticed.”

Management maintains that 2021 was a “prolific, productive, and creative” year for FCBCURE, adding, “By year’s end, our team had executed an amazing 17 launches.”

“As an agency, we leaned in, fully embracing our ‘Yes, we can!’ mentality, showcasing our agility, both operationally and creatively, to pivot as needed to help our clients and their brands achieve their goals,” says Sasha Boxer-Ruvo, executive director.

According to FCBCURE executives, with the “tremendous” 30 percent business growth experienced in 2021 came significant employee growth, as the agency welcomed 162 new hires, expanding its employee footprint across 22 states.

“At FCBCURE, we place a high priority on the people we bring in, striving to attract natural problem-solvers who embrace our vision to transform the ordinary in healthcare and deliver exceptional and unexpected experiences for all,” says Katerina Pierrez, director of human resources. “We strive to cultivate an environment that empowers people to not be afraid to ‘think outside of the box’ and foster a community that embraces diversity, inclusiveness, and a sense of belonging.”

Structure and Services

In 2021, FCBCURE welcomed Debra Polkes as creative partner and co-managing director. Polkes’ work and direction have been recognized by the most renowned industry award shows in the world, including Cannes Lions, Clio Health, The Creative Floor Awards, D&AD, and The One Show.

“I joined FCBCURE because I’m energized by the opportunity to lead creative teams and mold young creative talent,” Polkes says. “Tammy and I share the same passion for the work, the industry, and its future, and are committed to making FCBCURE a destination agency.”

On the creative front, FCBCURE continued to elevate its leadership team by attracting some of the best and brightest award-winning creatives in the industry. The agency welcomed Daniel Massih, Brendon Nafziger, Sung Rno, and Andy Saucier as group creative directors.

To further FCBCURE’s vision of delivering transformative and engaging customer experiences, Dave Stolzer joined as group director of engagement, and Daniel Farrar joined as director of technology. Agency executives say they bring a fresh perspective on how to apply data and infuse technology to help build and elevate customer-focused experiences, driving impact for clients’ brands in a growing virtual environment.

According to the leadership team, “Unexpected Connections” are the catalyst for impactful engagements between FCBCURE’s clients and their customers. “The agency’s biggest ‘connection’ of 2021 was becoming part of the newly formed IPG Health Network, giving us even greater access to the vast resources of one of the largest and most awarded networks globally,” management says.

“The opportunity to integrate with other IPG Health agencies has helped us further elevate the level of talent and resources we can offer to our employees, clients, and brands,” Fischer and Polkes say. “With the power of the network behind us, we have the opportunity to construct nimble, purpose-built solutions that enhance efficiencies for our clients, delivering integrated solutions that will drive business impact for our clients’ brands.”

Future Plans

Last year, FCBCURE’s ‘Yes, we can!’ mentality continued to drive exciting and successful collaborations, further fortifying relationships within the agency and with our clients,” management says. “We will continue to invest in recruiting the best and brightest in the industry across the nation and will provide ongoing training and programs to help our employees excel.”

Additionally, “We also focused on bolstering our senior leadership bench across all disciplines; moving forward, we will harness our experience and expertise to elevate the agency’s offerings in DTC, technology, engagement, and innovation.”

Agency managers maintain that FCBCURE continues to achieve greatness in a virtual work environment. The senior leadership team solicits input from employees to elevate the agency’s programs and processes, further enhancing the experience.

Philanthropy/Citizenship

FCBCURE is deeply invested in helping address the inequities communities face to deliver better experiences for all. “We teamed up with Braven to help address the education-to-employment gap faced by some of the most promising but under-represented future leaders. FCBCURE employees participated in an outreach program providing virtual mentoring and mock interviews to 30 young people on their path to college graduation and successful entry into the workforce.”

The agency also continued its partnership with Oasis – A Haven for Women and Children, an organization dedicated to helping women enter and succeed in the workforce and helping children flourish academically. The agency delivered 75 $50 Marshalls/TJ Maxx gift cards to help Oasis clients who have recently completed their GED or other job-skills training courses, so these women can purchase professional outfits for the next chapters of their lives. Additionally, FCBCURE supported its annual Thanksgiving Drive and Holiday Drive to provide meals and toys to local families in need.

“As we embarked on our second year of being fully remote, FCBCURE elevated efforts to create a sense of community and belonging in the virtual work environment,” management says. “To help foster employee connectivity, we rolled out ‘Unexpected Connections’ – a virtual half-hour meeting for the entire agency each month. These ‘water cooler’ gatherings focused on helping connect people across the agency and getting to know each other on a more personal level. Additionally, FCBCURE employees have been volunteering their time and talents to host virtual events on a variety of topics from cooking and mixology to gardening. These events have garnered amazing attendance rates, building a greater sense of community and infusing a sense of fun into the virtual work environment.”

“Joining an agency as a remote employee can feel overwhelming, but with FCBCURE, the people are so supportive and there are so many great programs in place, it was a welcoming and refreshing experience,” stated Barry Pearl, group director of strategic planning, who joined the agency mid-2021. “Between the onboarding process, training programs, and virtual team events, the agency really has made the transition wonderful.”
