For the 3rd year, three agencies – AbelsonTaylor, HCB Health, and Juice Pharma Worldwide – hosted an “Innovation in Healthcare” event at SXSW that featured the MIT Hacking Medicine team.

“HealthSpark 2018” assembled innovators and influencers to explore, discuss, and demonstrate what is next in health and technology. The event was supported by social media and advertising to boost attendance.

A website — https://spark2018.health — promoted the event, recruited innovative health startups and registered attendees.

It was a gathering of entrepreneurs, investors, and innovators designed to showcase and discover big ideas at the intersection of healthcare and technology.

There were over a dozen innovative startups who pitched their technologies to a panel of judges – investors and leaders of successful companies.

Cash prizes were awarded – $1,500 for the runner up, and $7,000 for the winner.

Featured speakers were very impressive: Amazon, Startup Health, the platform lead for Project Baseline (an innovative health data company), and the Global Head of Digital Innovation at Bayer.

The venue was a restaurant – Max’s Wine Cellar, located next to the Convention Center. It was an official SXSW Health Track event. Free tacos and an open bar were offered for the entire event.

Attendance was phenomenal as more than 1,700 people signed up for the 1-1/2 day sold-out event.
