Vivek Kundra, the first chief information officer for the United States under President Obama, has become the new chief operating officer of Outcome Health.

Kundra joined Outcome Health in January of 2017 as executive VP, Provider Solutions, where he led the teams and go-to-market strategy that deliver growth and innovation across Outcome Health’s membership of 41,000 practices, hospitals and health systems. In his expanded role, Kundra also leads Revenue, Product and Operations.

“Vivek is an exceptional growth leader with a unique skillset to drive large-scale technology transformation and revenue growth for the business,” says Rishi Shah, CEO of Outcome Health. “As we scale to 70 percent of all physician practices with our platform, Vivek’s leadership will deepen our commitment to customers at the core of our strategy and align operational investments during this rapid period of growth.”

Executives say Kundra has a proven track record of aligning multiple stakeholders to bring clarity, cohesion, and success to both the private and the public sector, having led complex organizations in each.

“I joined Outcome Health for the mission to improve health outcomes for people in critical moments of care,” Kundra says. “This new role allows our organization to listen more deeply to our customers, innovate more rapidly, and transform the healthcare industry in partnership with all stakeholders. For any business at this stage, internal and external alignment is critical to drive successful execution and business impact for all our partners.”

Before joining Outcome Health, Kundra served as executive VP at Salesforce, where he led international growth and the go-to-market strategy across industries, including healthcare, financial services, retail, communications, public sector, and automotive. Prior to this, Kundra served as the first CIO of the United States during the Obama administration, managing more than $80 billion in technology investments. He is credited with adopting game-changing cloud computing technologies, strengthening the cybersecurity posture of the nation, and launching an open government movement.

Outcome Health provides information solutions that serve health information and health intelligence during critical moments of care to enable patients and physicians to make the best healthcare decision possible. The company partners with 231,000 healthcare providers nationwide to impact 585 million patient visits annually.
