People on the Move: Biotech

 

Glenn Nedwin, Ph.D., has become CEO, president, and member of the company’s board of directors of Second Genome Inc. Most recently, Dr. Nedwin was chief executive officer of Taxon Biosciences Inc., an environmental and agricultural microbiome company that was acquired by DuPont in 2015.

Dr. Martin Birkhofer is now senior VP and chief medical officer of Gradalis Inc. Dr. Birkhofer was most recently chief medical officer at NuCana BioMed Limited.

Esteban Santos has been made executive VP, operations, reporting to Robert A. Bradway, chairman and CEO. He succeeds Madhavan (Madhu) Balachandran, 65, who is retiring at the end of the year. Santos has been senior VP, manufacturing with responsibilities for worldwide product supply since 2013.

Derek Hei, Ph.D., is now VP of clinical manufacture, quality, and regulatory activities at Cellular Dynamics International Inc. Dr. Hei has more than 20 years of experience developing biotherapeutics from research through clinical trials, most recently as director at Waisman Biomanufacturing, a cGMP-compliant manufacturing facility at the University of Wisconsin-Madison.

Carol A. Dutch joins the management team of Lumos Pharma Inc. as senior director, patient engagement. Prior to joining Lumos, Dutch worked with Recordati Rare Diseases Inc. in marketing and advocacy roles.
