The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has approved Abbott’s first-of-its-kind TriClip transcatheter edge-to-edge repair (TEER) system that’s specifically designed for the treatment of tricuspid regurgitation (TR), or a leaky tricuspid valve.

Abbott’s i-STAT TBI cartridge has received clearance from the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) to be used with whole blood, allowing doctors to help assess patients with suspected concussion at the patient’s bedside and obtain lab-quality results in 15 minutes. Previously, the tests to help with the assessment of TBI were only cleared for use with plasma or serum, requiring samples to be sent to a lab for processing and testing.

Abbott, the global leader in screening blood and plasma, partnered with Blood Centers of America, the largest blood supplier network in the U.S., to launch a mixed reality experience for blood donors in June 2023. Results from a pilot study reveal that mixed reality “is an innovative technology that holds promise to increase donor engagement, satisfaction, and retention,” researchers said.

The company’s new campaign, “Countdown at a Crossroads” featuring TV host Sherri Shepherd, shines a spotlight on how CGM technology can help people living with diabetes improve health outcomes and have a better quality of life.
