The world’s largest generic drugs maker announced on Wednesday that it will divest its active pharmaceutical ingredient (API) unit to focus on its core business.

Drugmaker Viatris said on Sunday it had reached agreements to divest some of its businesses for a total of up to $3.6 billion.
The investment would add capacity in research and development for manufacturing of active pharmaceutical ingredients (API), the main biologically active components of medicines, to supply its global clinical trials.
