Lucira Health said on Monday the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) had granted emergency use authorization for its combination diagnostic test for COVID-19 and the flu, making it the first to be available over-the-counter.

This means that the test can be used to detect the early stage of infection, as well as when the patient is recovering from the virus, or showing signs of a chronic infection that may lead to other diseases, such as liver cancer.
