The U.S. Department of Justice announced Wednesday it has filed a False Claims Act complaint against Regeneron Pharmaceuticals, alleging that the company “fraudulently inflated Medicare reimbursement rates” for its eye therapy Eylea (aflibercept).

BioTelemetry Inc. and its subsidiary CardioNet LLC have reached a settlement over allegations that they knowingly submitted claims to Medicare, TRICARE, the Veterans Health Administration and the Federal Employee Health Benefits Program for heart monitoring tests that were performed, in part, outside the United States.

The lawsuit accused Biogen of directing millions of dollars in kickbacks to doctors to prescribe its MS drugs Avonex, Tysabri and Tecfidera from 2009 to 2014, with kickbacks delivered in the form of “sham” consulting deals and speaker programs as well as lavish dinners and entertainment.

A federal judge on Tuesday dismissed, for the second time, a whistleblower lawsuit accusing drugmaker Novartis AG of paying kickbacks to doctors through a sham speaker program to promote its multiple sclerosis drug Gilenya.
