China’s CanSino Biologics, which recently announced a contract manufacturing deal to support AstraZeneca’s messenger RNA (mRNA) technology vaccine program, is in talks with more firms on similar deals, its CEO said, as it seeks new revenue streams to make up for plummeting COVID vaccine demand.

Australia’s CSL Ltd. said on Wednesday it had struck a licensing deal with Arcturus Therapeutics Holdings Inc. that would help it gain access to the U.S. drug developer’s messenger RNA (mRNA) vaccine technology.

Moderna Inc. has refused to hand over to China the core intellectual property behind the development of its COVID-19 vaccine, leading to a collapse in negotiations on its sale there, the Financial Times reported on Saturday, citing people familiar with the matter.

Now that most people in North America and Europe are vaccinated and the COVID-19 pandemic is diminishing, Moderna is looking for its second act.
