The deal will bolster nthye French company’s drug development portfolio with an experimental treatment for a rare genetic disease.

Sanofi is hoping that by sponsoring the Olympic Games it can attract new talent, reward existing staff and shake off the French drugmaker’s conservative image.

The drug makers co-developed the RSV shot for infants and toddlers called Beyfortus, which has already been approved for use in the European Union and United States.

Sanofi’s Fexinidazole Winthrop is the first oral treatment for an acute form of sleeping sickness, a lethal parasitic disease transmitted by the bite of infected tsetse flies and found in 36 African countries.

Manufacturers of RSV immunizations will make an additional 230,000 doses available for infants in January, the White House said on Thursday, after U.S. government officials met with suppliers to discuss meeting demand during winter.

Following the regulator’s administrative complaint and threat of a lawsuit in federal court, Sanofi has decided to terminate its licensing deal with Maze Therapeutics to avoid a long litigation process.

White House officials on Tuesday met with representatives of Sanofi, AstraZeneca, and Thermo Fisher “and urged them to work expeditiously to meet demand for immunizations this winter season through the commercial market,” the White House said in a statement.

In an R&D event on Thursday, the French pharma is trying to win over its investors by highlighting a dozen potential blockbusters and charting strong growth for the company through 2030.

The company plans to seek U.S. approval for its best-selling anti-inflammatory drug Dupixent to be used in the treatment of “smoker’s lung”, also known as COPD, after a second large trial showed significant benefits.
