The 29th edition of the Manny Awards took place on April 19th at Chelsea Piers in New York. More than 500 people from throughout the healthcare industry were in attendance at the black-tie affair that consisted of a cocktail hour, sit-down dinner, awards presentation and after-hours reception. Nineteen awards were handed out during the event for creative excellence and achievements in the healthcare advertising arena.
The 2018 Industry Person of the Year recipient is Sharon Callahan, CEO of TBWA\WorldHealth and Chief Client Officer of Omnicom Health Group. TBWA\WorldHealth is a global agency network that Callahan re-founded during 2016. Callahan helps clients access Omnicom’s deep healthcare talent and develop engaging innovative approaches for teamwork to maximize results for the agency network’s largest healthcare clients.
For the second consecutive year, Area 23 won the Manny gold statue for Agency of the Year Category I (for agencies that generate more than $50 million in annual revenue). Capturing the Category II title, for agencies with revenue between $25 million and $50 million, was Concentric Health Experience for the second time in three years. The Agency of the Year for Category III (for healthcare advertisers that record under $25 million in yearly income) was Calcium.
Each year the Med Ad News team presents the Heart Award, which is designed to recognize agencies’ social responsibility and agency cultures that embody a high commitment to philanthropic and social causes. The 2018 winner of this award, Fingerpaint, received a check for $3,000 to donate to a charity of its choosing. Heart Award finalists Greater Than One and MicroMass Communications each received a check for $1,000 to donate to a charity of their choice.
