The 2019 Manny Awards
The 30th annual Manny Awards event was held on April 18 in New York City at Chelsea Piers. More than 500 industry personnel attended the black-tie affair comprising a cocktail hour, sit-down dinner, awards presentation and after-hours reception. In honor of the 30th anniversary of the Manny Awards, 30 awards were presented throughout the evening honoring creative excellence and achievements in the healthcare communications industry.
Recognized as the 2019 Industry Person(s) of the Year were Steven Michaelson and Judy Capano. Michaelson is founder and CEO of Calcium, and Capano is managing partner and chief operating officer. For many years, the husband and wife team have served as an extremely successful foundation of agency leadership and teamwork.
A strong-three year run by TBWA\WorldHeatlh culminated in Agency of the Year Category I (representing healthcare communications firms that exceed annual revenue of $50 million) honors. The Category II award for agencies with revenue between $25 million and $50 million was bestowed upon Fingerpaint. The Category III (for healthcare advertising agencies that generate less than $25 million in yearly income) champion was Horsham, Pa.-based Dudnyk.
Through the Heart Award, the Med Ad News team continues to recognize agencies’ social responsibility and cultures that embody a high commitment to philanthropic and social causes. 2019 winner CultHealth receives a check for $3,000 to donate to a charity of the agency’s choosing. Heart Award finalists Area 23 and FCB Health New York each receive $1,000 from Med Ad News to donate to a charity.
