VUE Health was founded in 2016 by Kathryn Wilson, a 20-year veteran of the pharmaceutical marketing industry. After years of doing it someone else’s way, Wilson says she felt she could change the way the game was being played by bringing an incredible team together that loved the work, the mission, and the science – and by partnering with clients to push the boundaries in a highly regulated marketplace.

“Doing things differently is in our DNA,” says Wilson, who added that she is not afraid to back bold ideas and set new benchmarks for the industry. “We live, breathe, and love our industry and every day feels like we get to play with insights, challenges, and strategy to find that next big idea.”

VUE has been hyper-focused on the Boston market because of its core tenet that face time and engagement are vitally important to great working relationships, agency executives say. As VUE has grown, however, it has become necessary to expand, and 2020 saw the addition of an office in Florida.

According to its leadership team, VUE Health does not consider itself an advertising or medcomms company, but rather a “solutions company” that has broken down the walls between medcomms and marketing to ensure that science is the foundation of all of its work and that commercial strategy is embedded in every project.

According to Executive Creative Director Glenn Britland, “There are no silos, no set formats, and no one-size-fits-all approach. We come at communications with a unique VUE. Sound strategic thinking takes into account medical, commercial, and creative, right from the start. We think, get creative, and then help communicate unique stories to the world.”

RECENT ACCOMPLISHMENTS

Despite unprecedented challenges, management says 2020 was a year of expansion and growth at VUE Health. By the end of 2020, VUE had nine active clients and three new clients, and it also expanded work with existing partners.

Even as VUE made the agency-wide call to work entirely remotely since March 2020, that did little to stop it from adding eight talented new members to the team while making the winning list as one of MM&M’s 2020 Best Places to Work for Small Agencies, according to agency leaders. Additionally, VUE achieved a Gold for the second year in a row at the MM&M Awards for an Orphan Product Marketing Initiative campaign and made the national stage with the junior team in the MM&M Pitch Slam competition. “And there are no signs of slowing down as VUE enters 2021 with plans to grow its reach and exposure,” agency executives say.

2020 also saw the expansion of the VUE Health leadership team, adding Managing Director Courtney Doyle and Senior VP, Director of Digital Strategy Scott Dubow to the executive team roster, as well as promoting Vikram Kanda to chief medical officer and Kristin Wilson to senior VP, director of client services. These changes will continue to support its clients’ growing needs, agency executives say.

STRUCTURE AND SERVICES

VUE offers medcomms such as key opinion leader development, scientific platform development, advisory boards, congress support, and peer-to-peer content and training. Promotional services include marketing strategy, messaging, branding, launch planning, creative development, integrated marketing campaigns.

FUTURE PLANS

According to its leadership team, VUE Health is on a mission to be the premier pharma agency in Boston. The agency has also begun expansion into other markets, as needed, so that all of its clients experience the same level of service and partnership. With the groundwork laid for its office in Florida, 2021 will see VUE’s continued expansion into the market there, management says.

PHILANTHROPY/CITIZENSHIP

VUE Health believes that you can’t understand the needs of your community if you don’t serve in it,” agency executives say. Therefore, every employee has completed mandatory volunteer time during office hours to keep them grounded in the community and to encourage them to give back. With 2020 eliminating most in-person events, VUE has redirected its energies toward raising awareness with social posts and turning engagement into donations of meals and necessities for organizations such as Feeding the Frontlines Boston, the Greater Boston Food Bank (GBFB), Room to Grow, and Pine Street Inn.

Executives at VUE are directly involved in philanthropic organizations. Wilson is a member of the Healthcare Businesswomen’s Association, which has the core purpose of furthering the advancement and impact of women in the business of healthcare. Doyle is on the steering committee for GBFB Women Fighting Hunger and is a frequent contributor to American Heart Association Go Red for Women events.
