2016 was a year of continued growth and innovation for Xcenda, according to agency leaders. “We were honored to have associates recognized by PM 360 as Technological Innovators as well as having created visual identity work for one of 2016’s Top Innovative Products,” executives say.

The Year’s Accomplishments

Xcenda in 2016 successfully launched the first U.S. biosimilars field reimbursement team as well as developed a breakthrough calculator designed to assess the value of oncology products based on the most recent ASCO framework criteria and scoring methodology, executives say. Additionally, the agency also developed and presented the first interactive research poster at the Academy of Managed Care Pharmacy (AMCP) Annual Conference, highlighting findings on the fast emerging digital health technologies market.

Structure & Services

Xcenda is part of AmerisourceBergen, and executives describe the agency as “an integrated, world-class health care consulting firm focused on value, reimbursement and patient access.”

“For more than two decades, Xcenda has collaborated with global biopharmaceutical companies and emerging early-phase firms to help them successfully commercialize life-changing therapies in the ever-evolving global market,” executives remark. “Our portfolio of consulting services support all phases of the product lifecycle, allowing our experts to provide customized solutions and innovative approaches that discover and communicate the value of pharmaceuticals and other healthcare technologies. Headquartered in Palm Harbor, Florida, we also have offices in Ft. Mill, S.C., Washington D.C., and Hannover, Germany. However the majority of our associates work remotely. Geography is never a barrier when it comes to accommodating our world-class talent.”

The agency has a team of clinicians (pharmacists, nurses, physicians), health care researchers (health outcomes scientists, epidemiologists, biostatisticians, market researchers), medical writers, reimbursement experts, marketing strategists, creative team, and operations staff who “ultimately improve patients’ lives by identifying and communicating critical information about the effectiveness and impact of drugs and devices – and creating strategies and delivering services to help ensure these resources reach the right patients at the right time,” executives say.

Future Plans

“As a highly innovative company, we are always looking for new ways to produce the best outcomes for our clients,” Xcenda managers say. “What started out as a small entrepreneurial operation led by a brother/sister team has grown to a global consultancy employing hundreds of talented individuals making an impact on world health every day.”

According to management, Xcenda’s software development team is leading the pharmaceutical world into the mobile age. “We were one of the first companies to develop mobile friendly interfaces that allow key health data to be compiled, tabulated, and accessed from smart phones and tablets,” executives say.

With advancements in medicine and the development of new therapies bringing new questions and challenges, and with its strong experience in specialty products, “Xcenda is well equipped to address the complexities of new and emerging types of technology to help clients navigate this new landscape,” execs say. “Such methodologies as personalized medicine and cell & gene therapy present very exciting possibilities for better patient outcomes and potential cures. Xcenda can guide clients through the market access uncertainties these solutions may present.

“As new and important changes in healthcare unfold, Xcenda has a team dedicated to helping understand what is happening in the world of healthcare reform and health policy. Our ability to continually exceed expectations and drive results for our customers is due in large part to our unique culture and all of the amazing and talented team members that like to call Xcenda ‘home.’ Senior leadership has an ‘open door’ policy, honestly communicating results and recognizing how everyone’s hard work contributes to the greater good. We are happy and proud to be a productive part of every community we touch.”

Philanthropy/Citizenship

According to its leaders, Xcenda has a tremendous sense of community and believes strongly in giving back to those in need. “We interact with a number of local, national and global charities, including: Ronald McDonald House, JDRF Diabetes Foundation, The Arc Tampa Bay Foundation (a group focused on serving people with intellectual and developmental disabilities), Eckerd Raising Hope, F.e.a.s.t. Food Pantry, Humane Society of Pinellas County, Toymakers of East Lake, and Southeast Guide Dogs,” executives say. “This variety of organizations is a reflection of the many passions our associates have for various causes that are close to their hearts.”

In this past year, Xcenda’s president did a charity climb of Mt. Kilimanjaro in recognition of the Kupenda for the Children organization, a group out of Kenya that raises money and awareness for people with disabilities, executives say. “Associates from across Xcenda and our AmerisourceBergen company contributed to the cause, raising over $10,000 for the event,” according to agency leadership. “He and another associate have now taken on the challenge of running the Boston marathon this April as members of the Family Reach team, an organization providing real support for families facing the real-life financial challenges of cancer.”
