According to agency leaders, LevLane has a branding process. “We can check that box too, but unlike other agencies, our process is infused with passion,” the management team says. “That’s why we ask every new life sciences client the burning question: ‘Who Loves Ya?’ Why is love so vital to our marketing conversation? Because through decades of successful engagements, LevLane has proven that when you give people that compelling reason to become active participants in your brand, they feel the love and put their money where their heart is.”
“At LevLane we check off the passion box on every client engagement! We bring the fire to every account, to every opportunity, to every plan, to every campaign. We bring the Love! And the Love pays off. Our clients have seen healthy ROI while building long-term relationships with customers. We work with them as true partners, an extension of the marketing teams. We’ve got skin in the game and become a brand’s best friend.”
Building these emotional connections is at the heart of the LevLane DNA. “It’s all about authenticity. When your brand and your communications reflect the mission of your organization and the character of its people, there is an opportunity for real emotional connection.”
Management says LevLane’s model is about giving brand stakeholders reasons to love a brand, not reasons to believe the brand’s claim. “We believe this small, but important twist on message hierarchy is key to our strategic process and positions us as a unique partner within these emerging markets,” agency executives say. “Our approach gives us a platform to curate and create content relative to the healthcare consumer’s needs, and create impactful social media that is both customer-centric and wellness-focused.”
The agency’s strategic model employs “a creative boldness to tell the consumer and stakeholders how the brand feels about them and the issues at hand,” management says. “The deeper the connection the stronger the ability to not only know of the brand (awareness) but to genuinely understand the brand and how it connects with their lives.”
At LevLane, “we have recognized the complexities of life science marketing. We’ve evolved our marketing strategies to better connect the ever-changing stakeholders. We create brand love and understanding – it is our core strategy!”

Recent accomplishments

LevLane continued to grow and add capabilities in 2018. New business wins in specialty pharma, rare diseases, genetic testing, diagnostics, healthcare systems, physician networks and senior care led the way. “Our growth was also supplemented with work on the launch of a regional Medicare advantage plan in 2018.”
LevLane added Genomind, the leading mental health genetics care company, as AOR. LevLane is responsible for all strategic planning in corporate identity communications, brand development, HCP/patient communications, and digital services as Genomind expands its 2019 product offering.
LevLane added Lannett Company as a client, providing market research, market evaluation, and marketing commercialization activities for a specialty pharma launch in 2019.
LevLane also added Capital Health, a premier health system in Central NJ, growing aggressively in size, scope, services, and commitment to the community. LevLane is responsible for strategic planning, branding, creative development, messaging, media planning/buying, and social/content.
LevLane continues to develop branding, messaging, social media strategy and content, and other communications for Agile Therapeutics. The agency partners with Eagle Pharmaceuticals, providing sales force, payer, and reimbursement support for its product lines.
During 2018, LevLane partnered with Clover Health “to spread the Love, by launching their Medicare Advantage Plan in the City of Brotherly Love in 2018.” LevLane developed a multichannel campaign targeted to seniors to promote the launch of Clover Health in Philadelphia and surrounding counties. The campaign included TV, radio, and print ads along with targeted direct marketing tactics.
In order to serve the expanding client roster, LevLane has added several key new players. Liz Weir, Senior VP, Social Media/Content Marketing/PR, joined LevLane in 2018 to help expand the agency’s social media, content marketing, and PR expertise for the agency’s wide variety of life sciences clients.
LevLane further increased its capabilities and capacity in this area with the addition of Gabrielle Costello, Supervisor, Content, PR and Social during 2018.
“The ability to deliver from a creative perspective was key to our success in 2018 and the LevLane team was enhanced with the addition of Claire Altomori, Senior Art Director.”

STRUCTURE AND SERVICES

We believe LevLane’s division of Life Sciences offers clients a unique combination of skill sets and services,” management says. “What we definitely are not is a network of agencies. That outmoded model has faltered badly due to its structural complexity, internal rivalries, response inefficiencies, and lack of access to senior-level thinking. Instead, an independent LevLane fields a tightly integrated network of innovative individuals – a talent pool whose collective accomplishments, breadth of capabilities and depth of understanding is unrivaled in the industry.”
“We provide the love and match the talent to meet the marketing and communications challenges that your brand faces in today’s complicated and diverse marketplace” says Timmy Garde, Chief Innovation Leader. “We are connected with a talented network of people with unique skills from market evaluation to market access to market commercialization to meet any communications challenge. It’s not easy, but we make it seamless for our clients as we solve their problems and meet their challenges.”

FUTURE PLANS

Agency leaders believe that LevLane’s Life Sciences successes will lead to future engagements in a broad spectrum of life science opportunities including women’s health, genetic testing, diagnostics, specialty pharmaceuticals, and orphan drug marketplaces. These markets are poised for enormous growth as empowered healthcare consumers demand more and better control over their own health information and trajectory. “Mobile technology has put the power into the hands of the customer – we see our job as a way to connect those customers with the brands they need to manage their health … we live by the mobile fist mentality,” Garde says.
In 2018, the agency opened an office in the Boston area to service the surging biotech industry in that fast-growing region. The team is poised to support the wide variety of “up and coming” companies in the Boston area and has already been a sponsor of industry events.

PHILANTHROPY/CITIZENSHIP

LevLane has been committed to corporate social responsibility since its founding in 1984, and many of its clients are similarly committed to bettering the human condition and in some cases the animal community. “We love our puppies and pets!”
This past holiday season, Art Director Heather Kasprzak led LevLane’s donation drive for the Philadelphia Animal Welfare Society, or PAWS, Philadelphia’s largest animal rescue partner.
Dan Hall, LevLane’s VP/Digital Media Director, is a board member at Adoptions from the Heart.
LevLane’s creative teams continually furnish branding and fundraising materials at cost to the Support Center for Child Advocates, and helps place them with foster families. Agency founder and Chief Creative Officer Bruce Lev is a longtime Support Center board member. The agency donates creative services to produce the annual report for Philabundance, a leading provider of meals to the underfed and indigent.
The agency’s other co-founder, President and CEO David Lane, has been a board member of PennFuture, Pennsylvania’s leading environmental advocacy group.
