A U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention advisory panel on Dec. 12 recommended the nation’s first COVID-19 vaccine, helping clear the way for public health authorities to begin the largest vaccination campaign in U.S. history.

White House officials said they would block new vaccine guidance that would delay hurried approvals ahead of the Nov. 3 election.

President Donald Trump signaled the White House may attempt to override a more stringent guidance for Emergency Use Authorization of a vaccine for the novel coronavirus under consideration by the U.S.Food and Drug Administration (FDA).

The U.S. Food and Drug Administration is expected to issue a new and more stringent guidance regarding a potential Emergency Use Authorization (EUA) for a Covid–19 vaccine.

Vertex Pharmaceuticals Inc. priced the company’s FDA-approved Trikafta, a three-drug combination for cystic fibrosis, at $311,503 per year.

Amarin Corp. provided an update, noting that the company is increasing revenue guidance for 2019 and is planning to expand the sales force for Vascepa due to faster-than-expected growth.
