A bold journal ad marries a powerful patient image with a dynamic representation of a cancer cell, both linked by the universal language of “MOA” (mechanism of action). It’s the epitome of personalized health care, putting the patient at the heart of it all.

2023 was a big year for SFC Group, managers state, including the agency celebrating its five-year anniversary and winning new clients.

Recent accomplishments

SFC Group celebrated its 5th anniversary with an in-person casino night in Chicago. “For many SFC Groupies, it was the first time they had met in person,” agency leaders say. “With 100 percent agency attendance, it was a testament to both our commitment to employees and their dedication to the agency.”

A recent culture survey also saw a 100 percent response rate from employees. “Many of our staff appreciate the virtual work environment and the fact that leadership manages workloads so well,” executives say. “And like last year, they mentioned that trust is present for each other with a shared desire to please clients without bowing to unreasonable timelines.”

One of SFC Group’s new clients is Kiyatec, which managers say “is that rare company doing something so great you can’t help to up your game on their behalf.” As leaders in precision oncology, Kiyatec’s groundbreaking technology allows oncologists to determine which chemotherapies will be most effective before subjecting patients to potentially damaging adverse effects from an ineffective treatment. “We created an impactful concept (not to mention award winning) that launched last year, and their overhauled website just went live.”

Another new client was Kabrita, for its launch of the first and only goat milk-based infant formula approved by the FDA. “With a client laser-
focused on putting the science front and center, we needed to appeal to both science-savvy HCPs and not-so-savvy parents seeking a no-fuss infant formula,” executives say. “So we invited them to ‘Get to Know Goat’ on an educational prelaunch microsite that made the science accessible to all.”

The agency also earned its WBENC certification. “We’re all very proud to be recognized by the largest certifier of women-owned businesses in the U.S. and a leading advocate for women entrepreneurs for the second year in a row,” leaders say.

The agency won 109 industry awards in 2023. “But beyond awards, our creative was specifically designed and strategically positioned to ensure a positive ROI for our clients  – and it delivered. The awards are the glittering cherries on our cake.”

Finally, the agency created a pack of self-promotional playing cards. “From the account team to project managers to tech-averse writers, we all had a hand in dealing out singularly unique suits,” executives say. “This deck serves as a great introduction to us as a creative team for prospective clients and a cool leave behind for current ones.”

Structure and services

SFC Group is not a huge group,” the leadership team states. “But we’re a mighty one and our strength lies in our mantra: we are ‘we,’ not ‘me.’ Together we win, lose, and learn as ONE team. We show up for each other, we act with empathy, and we bring our best selves to work every day. Through our work and our actions as people, we make fans of our clients. And by continuing to cultivate relationships in an environment of excellence, we create SFC Groupies for life. In fact, three of our clients have been with us since our founding.”

SFC Group has been a 100 percent virtual, full-service marketing and communications agency focused on health care since its inception. “Our practice areas include everything from allergy to clinical nutrition to health systems to oncology and women’s health,” executives say.

Managers state the agency is “informed by spot-on strategic brand counsel and business planning. Our art and copy teams develop creative concepts, full campaigns, and unique branding and identity systems. We drive physician and patient awareness and adoption through tailored materials across print, digital, and social channels based on market research. Our media team integrates media with brand marketing to provide the best opportunity to influence customer attitudes and behaviors. Our digital and tech team ensures a user experience that keeps people on their websites, including strong SEO to drive organic traffic and continuously tested SEM that adapts in real time to ensure effective social media campaigns and compelling content marketing. And our events team engineers unforgettable experiences that optimize target audience engagement and help move the needle for clients.”

While the agency is structured like other agencies, with account directors, project managers, and creative leads, leaders claim that SFC Group is different because “each of us has a voice and is encouraged to use it. It doesn’t matter if you’re a project coordinator or the VP of client services, our unique experiences and perspectives are what make us the strong, creative agency we are. If there’s a service we don’t offer in house, we enlist the best of the best to help us complete that project. In today’s fast-changing environment, being structured in such a way means we never have to say ‘no.’”

Future plans

Our goal for the future has remained unchanged since our foundation: be a desired destination for both clients and talent,” leaders say. “We’re a creative shop where creatives are free to do what they do best: be creative – and that attracts both clients and talent. Our account team is second to none when it comes to client service, keeping the white gloves on 24/7, and that breeds a loyal following. Our executive creative director offers supportive guidance without snark, and that retains talent, as evidenced by nearly nonexistent turnover in the creative department.” The agency will continue hiring thoughtfully, entering partnerships, and winning pitches.

Philanthropy/citizenship

As individuals, we are encouraged to take time to support those causes closest to our hearts, whether it’s volunteering at the local ASPCA, delivering Meals on Wheels, or donating to a favorite charity,” agency leaders say.
